Built around what you need to know

Every evaluation at Viewpoint starts with a thorough clinical interview — what's prompting the testing, what the picture looks like at home, school, or work, what you're hoping the results will help with. From there we build an assessment plan specific to you. The more specific your goals, the more precisely the evaluation can be tailored.

The written documentation that comes out the other side is built to be used. It can qualify for or inform academic and work accommodations (IEPs, 504 Plans, ILPs, ACT/SAT accommodations) as well as medical and psychological care decisions.

Types of evaluations

Four kinds of evaluations we offer

Ages 6+

Measures

  • Cognitive abilities (IQ)
  • Current academic knowledge across subject areas (achievement)
  • Attention and executive functioning
  • Social, emotional, and behavioral functioning

Format

  1. 01 Initial interview 1 hour
  2. 02 Testing 4 hours total (splittable)
  3. 03 Feedback 1 hour

The goal is to identify strengths and weaknesses so strengths can be capitalized on and weaknesses targeted with the right supports — at school, at home, or both.

Ages 5+

Measures

  • Cognitive abilities (IQ)
  • Attention and executive functioning
  • Social, emotional, and behavioral functioning

Format

  3. 03 Feedback 1 hour

Ages 6+

Includes

  • Autism-specific observation using a standardized measure
  • Cognitive abilities (IQ)
  • Adaptive functioning (activities of daily living, functional communication)
  • Social, emotional, and behavioral functioning

The evaluation is built to give you a clear diagnostic picture and actionable next steps — for school, for medical providers, and for the family.

Adolescents & adults

Personality and diagnostic evaluations are for cases where the presentation is complex — multiple overlapping concerns, an unclear diagnosis, or treatment that hasn't moved the needle.

What it does

  • Clarifies the diagnosis when the picture isn't clean
  • Informs treatment planning — including medication and therapy decisions
  • The test selection is customized to your situation, not a fixed battery

Private pay only — and here's why

Insurance companies limit time spent on testing, refuse to cover certain tests, and require demonstration of 'medical necessity' — constraints that quietly cap the quality of an evaluation. We decline to do less-than-adequate testing under those rules, so testing is private pay. That way the test selection is driven by your situation, not by what's reimbursable.
