Making a Meaningful Self-Care Menu
Whether you’re feeling the post-holiday slump or the wild winter weather impacting the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Central Kentucky regions, it's a good time to remind yourself of your 2026 resolutions (scroll down to read my January blog post about how to maintain new habits). It's also a good time to reflect on self-care and what types of self-care you may be needing right now! There are many ways to care for yourself and being prepared with a menu of options you enjoy is a helpful hack to take the guesswork out of addressing your needs in the moment! Check out the self-care suggestions below for ideas about how to prioritize yourself this month, and beyond!
1. Emotional Self-Care: These are activities that improve your emotional health and well-being. Examples may be sitting with your emotions, being kind to yourself, or working with a qualified therapist (like one of the highly qualified professionals at Viewpoint!
2. Pleasurable Self-Care: These are activities that you enjoy. Examples may be going to watch that movie you’ve wanted to see, ordering from your favorite takeout place, or spending time doing a hobby!
3. Sensory Self-Care: These are activities involving one or more of your five senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch). Examples may be cuddling up with a soft blanket, smelling your favorite scent, or breathing in the crisp winter air!
4. Social Self-Care: These are activities related to connection with others. Examples may be texting a friend, getting together with a group, or even trying a new social activity!
