Twenty Years of Impact and Service

Twenty Years of Impact and Service

Twenty years ago, Viewpoint Psychological Services opened its doors with a simple but profound belief: that every person deserves a space to be truly seen, heard, and supported. This May, we mark two decades of that commitment, and we find ourselves filled with deep gratitude for every person who has trusted us with their story.

Whether you are a long-time client, someone who found us recently, or someone who is quietly wondering if therapy might be right for you, this anniversary belongs to you as much as it does to us.

In a time when big corporations seem to be making all the rules, Viewpoint continues to be a small, locally owned business, run by myself (a psychologist) and my husband, Ted (a clinical social worker). We started on this journey in 2006, as two mental health professionals, and (then) young parents of two children, trying to create something we could be proud of, and learning how to build a sustainable people-centered business in the process. We were eager to earn the trust of professionals who refer to us, and the families we worked with. We wanted to build something that made a real impact on people’s lives, and we knew in order to do that, we needed to recruit excellent providers and a support team to make it all happen. And that’s what we did. Over the past 20 years, Viewpoint and all of the clinicians who have been a part of our practice, have served tens of thousands of clients. We have employed first-class providers and staff who have made all the difference. As we reflect on the past 20 years, we are proud of what we have built, and eager to continue on with our mission to provide high quality services to the community.

What started out as the two of us seeing clients in our Fort Thomas office, quickly grew into our practice as it is today, with 29 psychologists and therapists across four locations. We didn’t set out to create a big practice, but grew organically as we continued to see the need and expanded to help provide the high quality services that the community deserves.

What Twenty Years Has Taught Us

Two decades in practice teaches you things that no textbook can. It teaches you that healing rarely looks the way people expect it to. It rarely happens in a straight line. It often arrives quietly, in the middle of an ordinary Tuesday, when you realize you handled something differently than you would have before.

It teaches you that courage looks different on everyone. For some, courage is making the first phone call to schedule an appointment. For others, it is returning after a long break, or admitting that something is still hard even when you thought you were "supposed" to be better by now. We have the deepest respect for every form that courage takes.

And perhaps most of all, twenty years has reinforced what we believed from the beginning: people are remarkably resilient. Given the right support, the right tools, and a relationship built on genuine trust, people can, and do, change, grow, and heal.

A Space Built Around You

From the very beginning, Viewpoint Psychological Services was designed with you in mind. Not just your symptoms or your diagnosis, but you: your history, your relationships, your hopes, the things that keep you up at night, and the life you are working toward.

We know that reaching out for help can feel vulnerable. There can be uncertainty. Will this actually help? Will I be judged? Where do I even begin? We want you to know that those feelings are completely understandable. We welcome you exactly where you are.

Our clinicians bring warmth, expertise, and a genuine investment in your wellbeing to every single session. We stay current in evidence-based approaches not because it is required of us, but because you deserve the most effective care available. And we approach every person as a whole human being. Not a problem to be solved, but a life to be supported.

For Those Considering Taking That First Step

If you have been thinking about therapy (maybe for a while now) we want to gently say: you don't have to have it all figured out before you call. You don't need to be in crisis. You don't need a perfectly articulate explanation of what's wrong.

You can simply show up to your appointment, and we will meet you where you’re at, and we will figure it out together.

People come to us navigating all kinds of experiences — anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, stress, identity questions, and moments when life just feels harder than it should. There is no experience too large or too small to deserve support.

Sometimes, people come simply because they want to understand themselves better. To have a space that is entirely theirs, where they can think out loud and gain clarity. That is a worthy reason, too.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

As we celebrate this milestone, we think about the thousands of conversations held within our walls. The tears, the breakthroughs, the laughter that sometimes bubbles up in the middle of difficult work. Those moments of insight and awareness can shift everything. This is what creates lasting impact. That's what it is all about.

We are profoundly honored to have been part of so many chapters of so many lives. We know it is a privilege each time a client lets us into their world. We never take that for granted.

As we look toward the future, our commitment remains exactly what it has always been: to offer you care that is thoughtful, compassionate, and genuinely effective. To keep showing up — for you, with you, and in your corner.

Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for the privilege of this work. YOU are why we and all of our clinicians and staff do what we do each and every day.

Here's to the next twenty years, and to your wellbeing, always!
