About Payton

Payton Dorothy Prather, LPCC, enjoys working with clients of all backgrounds and is dedicated to advocating for marginalized communities and raising awareness of current issues in mental health. She enjoys working with adolescents 13 and up, adults, and couples. Her interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, mood and personality disorders, and conduct disorders, and she works with people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC navigating daily stressors. Payton has completed Level 2 Gottman training and uses a Gottman approach with couples to enhance communication and strengthen relationships.

Payton earned her B.S. in Kinesiology and Health Promotions from the University of Kentucky (2017) and her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2020). She uses evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, and Person-Centered Therapy, and is trained in Motivational Interviewing.
