About Jake
Jake Messmer is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who enjoys working with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds. His clinical interests include depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, grief, chronic pain, traumatic brain injuries, and substance use disorders. Jake believes a strong therapeutic alliance is vital to counseling. His orientation integrates Person-Centered Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, individualizing sessions with an eclectic mix of techniques and working from a wellness perspective to help clients thrive across all areas of well-being.
Jake received his Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Louisville (with a minor in Communications and a certificate in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Transformation), then earned his Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Kentucky University.
